Weeds grew in her heart
Breathing in
The sticky air
She
Breathed in for them
Weeds grew in her heart
In abandoned corners
Where once
Love sprouted
But wasn't watered
Weeds grew in her heart
Filling in
Empty spaces
Giving her all they could
Taking more than she could give
Weeds grew in her heart
Pesticide against emotion
So when love passed by
The weeds howled and cried
And scared it away
Weeds grew in her heart
And when life abandoned her
They welcomed death
With a garland of weeds
Lit fire to themselves
Weeds grew in her heart
And when the fires spread
They cradled her
Squeezed the life out of her
So so gently.
